PREMARITAL SEX IN TEENAGERS by Carol Nyambura 664441.
When we compare the teens of the 21st century and of the past we see a very big difference when it comes to sexuality. Technology has really impacted our lives positively but on the same time it has led to sexual immorality which include incest, homosexuality and premarital sex among the teens. Fornication is a vice that has really impacted the lives of the young people aged 13-19 years. The society has normalised sex before marriage to a point of not seeing the danger we are putting our children into. Teenagers always experience changes which can either be physical, social and emotional. This change may have really played a role in fornication.
One of the changes the teen experience is the social change. Teenagers want to be associated with their fellow hence some engage in fornication because of peer pressure. Parents who don’t teach their children sex education also play a role in premarital sex. This urge of wanting to be part of people has also led to many of them being in social media which is a good thing since they learn much through the social media but to a point social media has not brought out good examples in terms of teaching our children about abstaining till marriage.
As children approach the teen stage
they experience various physical changes brought by hormones. This is a stage
where the girls start having menstrual flow, their mammary glands enlarge,
their hair and skin starts to become smoother. The boys start to have hairy
chest and around the private areas and the chest broaden. All these changes
bring attraction among the opposite gender. This may bring fornication if self-control
of the teens is down.
Fornication can lead to early
pregnancy, transmission of sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV/AIDS. It
can also lead to school dropouts and forced marriages in case the teenagers get
pregnant. HIV/AIDS leds to poverty since the family members and the government must
spend money to buy medicines to the victims. It is our duty to protect the
teens against the illegal sexual practices through talking to them and as parents
to take their responsibilities although we cannot fully prevent the vice of
fornication.
