Image
TEENS AND POP CULTURE. by Mulange Ula Misa 664632 Popular culture, also known as pop culture, is, according to the dictionary, cultural activities or commercial products reflecting, suited to, or aimed at the tastes of the general masses of people. Basically, this culture interests a lot of people, especially the youth. What does pop culture include? You may ask. Celebrities, fashion, music, and most popular, media. Teens, really active and naïve to new things, a re totally affected by these things, and that is exactly what we will talk about. From sports personalities to actors and actresses, celebrities are everywhere. And the teens love them. It is not new to see teens around you changing their fashion, mode of dressing, and even way of speaking to align with how a certain celebrity does their things. I mean you cannot even blame them. Celebrities are everywhere! All of us see them and of course, admire them. The problem though comes when these same celebrities who are some...

Mental health

FROM A MANNERLESS KID’S POINT OF VIEW.  by Thabiti Jeanette Orpah.  I am pretty pro- Gen Z…Well, that’s partly because I’m part of it but mostly because I believe in us. Traditional thinkers consider us to be an incredibly wild lot or as a Kenyan mama would say, “mannerless kids.” I know quite a several people who hold the same thought and if you’re one, brace yourselves…I might piss you off quite a bit with this article… I am fascinated by our mannerlessness; the very nature that warrants us to be somewhat callous in our questioning of everything, policies, and systemic inconsistencies. We are a generation that has taken a keen interest in all matters of mental health to the point where we are constantly seeking to not only educate but also be educated about issues concerning the mind. People have called us a ‘soft generation’ and that is owing to the high numbers of suicides we keep recording but I don’t think that’s the case. You see, speaking as a girl with Afr...
Academic Expectations March 14, 2022  by Isaaka Joshua  Real World Expectations have to be the same as Parent expectations for Teens. Financial abundance is largely lauded as a good thing in today's celebrity and financial guru worshiping society. More funds guarantees adequate security, more possessions, more opportunities, and more success, Is it right? On the contrary, recent studies reveal that money can mean more issues for the offspring of rich parents. The research published in the journal of development reported that young people whose parents earn $160,000 or higher annually experience twice the rate of depression and stress than those from middle-class or low-class families. The number of pressure children and adolescents face falling into this household income range primarily revolve around academic achievements and co-curricular activities and accomplishments. After school, activities such as sports, music, and arts are meant to be fun and enjoyable. Exercis...

TEENAGE PREGNANCY.

Image
This video covers much when it comes to teenage pregnancy including the causes and the effects of early pregnancies in our youth. In America cases of teen pregnancy are increasing daily creating an alarm that as a society we really need to change the way we perceive teens. It is high time we emphasize having early sex education in our schools and at home. In the 21 st century teen pregnancy has become common which was not in the past since the people took it as a responsibility to take care of the youth. This consisted of uncles, elders in the communities parents, and fellow youth. The punishment was given to the youth upon reaching marriage without maintaining chastity also played a role in preventing sex before marriage which is a cause of teens pregnancies.
